Transnational formed out of a need to re-envision how the news and documentary industry covers trans people — from how stories are told, to who’s behind the camera or in the post-production rooms. It won a Peabody, a GLAAD award, a Native American Journalists’ Association award, and several NLGJA awards. I teamed up with a colleague to develop, pitch, produce, and direct what is now known as OUT LOUD. It’s a 44-minute documentary that highlights three young queer artists and the spaces that helped shape them, showing how music is integral to creating a community for queer people to find ourselves. We even got New Orleans Bounce icon Big Freedia to host as a way to metaphorically “pass the torch” to these younger artists.&nbsp; https://alyzaenriquez.rodeo/Detransitioners-VICE-on-Showtime Thu, 30 May 2024 19:57:56 +0000 Alyza Enriquez https://alyzaenriquez.rodeo/Detransitioners-VICE-on-Showtime Detransitioners 2023 Admist the onslaught of anti-LGBTQ+ bills in 2022 and 2023, trans journalists like myself, rang the alarm about a new legal strategy conservatives were using to “prove” gender-affirming care was failing. A small but rotating cast of detransitioners were being flown around the country to testify at legislative hearings— always with the same story.
