I worked as part of a small cohort of queer journalists to create, develop, and direct Transnational— a six-part series about global struggles for trans rights and stories of resilience. Transnational formed out of a need to re-envision how the news and documentary industry covers trans people — from how stories are told, to who’s behind the camera or in the post-production rooms. It won a Peabody, a GLAAD award, a Native American Journalists’ Association award, and several NLGJA awards. In 2023, I co-directed and oversaw the creation of the second season.
